Asperger’s syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder, also known as Asperger’s disorder. Clinical features of Asperger’s are characterized by difficultly in daily social interactions, repetitive and restricted patterns of interests, activities, and behavior. Dr. Hans Asperger who first illustrated the condition in 1944 observed features including poor communication skills, lack of empathy, little ability to form relations such as friendship, obsessive schedules, one-sided banter, extreme absorption in a special interest, and clumsy movements in his Aspergersubjects. Most usually preferred mode of treatment involves one or multiple social, behavioral, and/or educational interventions which helps, most individuals with Asperger’s Disorder lead improved lives, with close friends and family. Management of Asperger’s syndrome usually consists of the following :

Educational intervention

Early exposure to educational therapies often yields very effective results. Highly structured educational programs consist of array of activities for social skills improvement, behavior modification and communication enhancement.

Behavioural therapies

Many behavioural therapies address the range of’ social behavioural difficulties related with asperger’s. Some therapies focus particularly on reducing problem behaviours and teaching new skills younger children who receive individualized behavioural interventions intensively often show good advancement

Language and communication therapies

It is one of the most important methods aiming at reducing the barrier of individual with asperger’s and his immediate environment. It helps the individual to learn how to act in social situations, and how to communicate better with others.

Social skills training

Mood Stabilizers such as valproate, carbamazepine, lithium and Beta Blockers such as nadolol, propranolol,and clonidine, naltrexone, Neuroleptics are given to manage irritability and aggression
