Muscular Dystrophy occurs due to the weakening of the human’s musculoskeletal system. It is a type of muscle loss disease that sojourns the kinesis of the muscles. Simply called as MD, they have distinguished as deficiencies in proteins & death of cells. The early reports suggest about young lads who evolved weaker with the age, who lost the capability of walking and finally were subjected to death. There are many reports around MD disease but none of them provide conclusive evidence that is being looked for. The disease is a multi-dimensional one & has more than one type.Muscular Dystrophy

The other types of disorders are:

  • Becker
  • oculopharyngeal
  • Facioscapulohumeral
  • Limb-girdle
  • Distal

The mutation in the X chromosomes is the basic cause of muscular dystrophy. This is mostly found in boys, although some cases have been reported in girls as well. Majority of muscular dystrophy disorders are more than one system ailments which are:

  • Cardiovascular system
  • Gastrointestinal system
  • Nervous system
  • Endocrine Glands
  • Ocular system
  • Cognitive system

Although there are nine major types of MD listed above, there are more muscular dystrophy disorders recognized.

The functions that are noticed in persons suffering from muscular dystrophy are:

  • General intellectual
  • Behavioral
  • Muscular
  • Bowel
  • Sexual

Those who suffer from muscle dystrophy are vulnerable to cognitive grievance. They are diagnosed via atomic physiognomies, not through disability collywobbles. Nonetheless, 1/3rd of gravely affected MD patients have the risk of such mental problems like cognizance, behavioral, speech issues.

What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

  • Progressive muscular wasting

The muscle tissues are wasted if the muscle expands. This is known as progressive muscular wasting.

  • Poor balance

There are some difficulties in posture as well. Due to muscle degradation, one is not able to walk properly or hold balance with grip.

  • Eyelid drooping

The eyelid droops with the extreme loss of muscles. There is constant flattering of eyelids when one suffers from muscle dystrophy.

  • Scoliosis (Curvature of the spine and the back)

The spinal cord gets bent due to loss of muscle support. The back of the person is inclined as most up to 90 degrees.

  • Inability to walk

This is the similar condition with poor balance which deviated the proper locomotion. The leg muscles become extremely weak which result in inability of walking.

  • Frequent falls

Even if the person tries to walks with support, the remaining whatsoever gets strained which results in physical collapses during even stand-ups.

  • Calf deformation

The calf muscles gets deformed which is one of the major symptom of muscular dystrophy.

  • Limited range of movement

As MD patients have very impoverished muscles, their inability of walking, there is limited range of movement.

  • Respiratory difficulty

There are breathing problems with MD affected patients. Many of them have reported cases of short-breathiness and palpitation.

  • Joint contractions

As there are muscle spasms, the joints can get contracted and it can even cause problems like arthritis and chronic joint pains.

  • Arrhythmias

It is known as the difficulty in normal heart beat rates. When the rhythm of normal heart rate is disturbed, it gives rise to arrhythmias. The conditions like tachycardia (fast heart rate) & bradycardia (low heart rate) are characterized with the patients of MD diseases.
